This week is Cyber Smart week
What will you do this week to #getcybersmart?
Not sure where to start? We’ve teamed up with @CERTNZ to share some simple steps so everyone can join in!
Improving your cyber security doesn’t need to be overwhelming, just doing a couple of simple things will set you on your way. Good security is really just a combination of simple steps and protecting your online self is as easy as just doing a handful of things. Even one action will mean your security is stronger than it was before.
First up: Passwords
One of the best things you can do to keep yourself safe online is to have a different password for each account. Ensure that you make unique passwords for all your accounts, starting with your most important ones.
Unique passwords help keep you safe in case your account data is compromised in a data breach, or guessed by someone untoward. When your passwords are unique, even if someone gets your password they only get into one account, instead of having free reign on your online identity. There are also some great tools out there to help you store all those passwords securely so you don’t need to worry about remembering them all.
